Another early flight, 8:30 am or so.  Connected through San Francisco with just a 90 min or so layover.  In Vancouver we had to wait something like 45 minutes for the bus to run us up to Whistler.  Apparently, some government inspector was being nitpicky and wouldn't release the bus to come pick us up.  The bus was clearly in good shape, but he was holding out for some paperwork.  Eventually, it showed up.

The conditions on the bottom half of the mountains sucked, hard.  You can't really tell from these pics, but the first day the snow at the bottom was slushy, like a slurpee.   Very wet and heavy.  It was tiring and easy to catch a ski tip and fall.   We actually got rained on while skiing back to the condo the first day, which is a first for me.  After the first day it got cold enough that the slushy stuff froze, and it was nearly all ice getting back to the condo.

We skied Blackcomb the first day.  The snow was better at the top.  Plenty good enough.  But it was very cloudy, and on one section there was a very strong wind.  At one point, it felt like I was zipping along a catwalk pretty quickly through the cloud, and I was afraid to go much faster because I couldn't see very far.   Then I looked down at my skies and realized I was probably only moving about 5 mph.   That was actually kind of bizarre.
